In January, JWT launched “Worldmakers,” a talk show hosted by Worldwide CEO Bob Jeffrey on YouTube that highlights people who are making things happen through technological innovation and international imagination. Mario Batali, the chef and restaurateur, touched on two of our 10 Trends for 2012 in a recent segment. “It’s going to take a lot of thought and a lot of innovation to make sure and/or embrace the fact that in the 22nd century, we’re probably going to be eating a lot of bugs,” Batali notes in reference to the trend we’ve called Food as the New Eco-Issue. (We also spotlight the idea of Insects as Protein in our food trends report.) And he touches on Shared Value—integrating social issues into business strategies—saying that “any product has to have a component that it’s taking care of something else.”
The “Worldmakers” series got off the ground at the Consumer Electronics Show, where Jeffrey interviewed the likes of Unilever’s Keith Weed, Facebook’s Carolyn Everson and Ford’s Michelle Moody, among others. More recently, he talked to Bonnie Fuller of Hollywoodlife.com, Rich Goodstone of the Bonnaroo festival and Arianna Huffington, who talked about De-Teching, one of our 10 Trends for 2011 (“As we become more and more connected, we will become obsessed with being able to disconnect”).
